IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT ANODIZING:
Anodizing is different than paint, plating, and coatings which sits on top of the surface. Anodizing is a process that converts the outer layer of the aluminum into an Anodic Oxide Finish and infuses the dye at the same time through an electro-chemical process. This is why anodizing doesn’t chip or flake, as it is integral with the underlying material and is composed entirely of Aluminum Oxide. Anodizing also provides one of the most beautiful finishes you could possibly have on aluminum which is why it is a preferred finish on our show quality parts.
The durability and corrosion resistance of Anodizing is excellent. However, is susceptible to UV and strong Alkaline cleaners. Colors like Red and Blue are more likely to be affected than Black. We allow our dye to bond for twice the standard period for the best color retention on the market.
To keep your anodized parts looking the best, be sure to follow these suggestions.
1) Reduce the overall UV exposure. If your parts are going to continuously be in direct sunlight, make sure that they all see an even amount of sunlight to keep the color shades the same.
2) Use Mild or Organic Detergents. Soaps with high Alkaline content will strip the dye from the aluminum. Ammonia, Lye, and Strong Acids will also strip the dye. There are soaps on the market specifically with low/no Alkaline for this reason.
